About Us

EMPOWERING LIVES: UNSTOPPABLE SPIRITS, LIMITLESS POSSIBILITIES

The Hagie Gai Drammeh Foundation is dedicated to supporting the physically challenged in The Gambia. We strive to empower individuals, enabling them to lead fulfilling lives through access to resources, support, and opportunities.

Mr. Hagie Gai Drammeh is the brain-child of The Foundation. He is a Media Sports Journalist who had worked for the popular West Coast Radio and went further to open his own Stationery and Printing Business with an On-Line TV (Tales of Hagie Drammeh ‘THD TV’). He hails from the village of Diabugu Batapha in the Upper River Region.

Mr. Drammeh sees disability as a natural part of the prevailing human condition that influences all the differences, we find ourselves experiencing in life… As in his own case, his physical deformities became as a result of Polio – myelitic illness.

Mr. Drammeh is truly a catalyst for change, increasing the political and economical power of the people with disabilities which necessitated the establishment of a Disability Corner for digital accessibility for people with disability to exhibit their skills and talents that they do differently. Ultimately contributing, the organizational efforts of the Gambia Federation are directed towards poverty reduction and accelerated educational development in The Gambia.

Skill Development

We are thrilled to share a heartwarming milestone at the Hagie Gai Drammeh Foundation for the Physically Challenged! Recently, we welcomed three incredible students who have been sponsored by our foundation to embark on their educational journeys. These young learners have begun their daily private study classes with one of their dedicated teachers, marking the start of a new chapter filled with hope and opportunity.

Empowering Futures through Education

At the foundation, we believe that education is a powerful tool for transformation. Each of these students brings unique talents and dreams, and we are committed to providing them with the resources and support they need to thrive. Our mission is not just about funding education; it's about fostering an environment where every student feels valued, empowered, and capable of achieving their aspirations.

A Journey of Resilience and Determination

As these students gather for their classes, they are not just learning academic subjects; they are building confidence and resilience. This teacher is dedicated to creating inclusive and supportive learning experiences that cater to each student's individual needs. This personalized approach ensures that every child can engage fully in their education, overcoming barriers that may have previously held them back.

Let’s come together to cheer on these remarkable students as they take their first steps towards a brighter future. Stay tuned for updates on their progress and stories of inspiration!

Advocacy

The Hagie Gai Drammeh Foundation for The Physically Challenged is conscious of the need to collectively contribute to improving the quality of life for people with disability as well as promote the prevention of physical disabilities, violations, and disability discrimination. We positively advocate for equal opportunities to education, social, political, and economic rights for people with disability pursuant to the Disability Act 2022/23 and any other laws of The Republic of The Gambia.

The Foundation has been in operation since the early part of 2015, providing scholarships for overseas studies and assistance to rural communities, along with various gifts for people who are differently abled.

Mr. Hagie Drammeh, together with his local trustees and philanthropists in Europe, Scandinavia, the U.S., and elsewhere, has worked to enhance disability rights globally and achieve full registration for The Foundation at the Attorney General Chambers.

The Foundation is a Charitable Organization, non-political, non-sectarian, and non-profit, committed to improving human dignity, unity, cooperation, and solidarity among members, while supporting youth, children, women, climate change, and community standards.
